Here are the Senate and House Calendars and Committee meetings showing bills of interest as well as a list of new environmental bills introduced--

Session Schedule

The House and Senate return to session on May 3. The Senate and House then take a break until after the May 18 Primary election.

Calendars
 

House (May 3):  House Bill 80 (Vitali-D-Delaware) expanding the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards and authorizing a carbon sequestration network, House Bill 2235 (Vitali-D-Delaware) providing for a five year moratorium on leasing further State Forest lands for Marcellus Shale gas drilling.   Note: a vote is expected on House Bill 2235 this coming week.

Senate (May 3):  House Bill 687 (Dermody-D-Allegheny) adding upgrades to reduce water and wastewater consumption, production were included in changes to the law authorizing guaranteed energy savings contracts; House Bill 975 (Adolph-R-Delaware) further providing for continuing education for engineers, land surveyors and geologists.

Committees

House: the State Government Committee meets to consider  House Bill 2342 (Hornaman-D-Erie) authorization the Department of General Services to lease 25 acres of submerged lands in Erie County for wind generation

Other: Special Session On Transportation Funding opens with Governor's Address; the Joint Legislative Budget and Finance Committee meets to award contract for study required under Senate Resolution 215 (Brubaker-R-Lancaster) relating to the cost to farms to comply with Chesapeake Bay mandates.

Bills Introduced

The following bills of interest were introduced this week--

Alternative Energy Portfolio:  House Bill 2405 (DePasquale-D-York) amending the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards to expand the solar energy requirement providing for advanced coal combustion and carbon sequestration.
 

Sales Tax Exclusion:  House Bill 2457 (Pyle-R-Armstrong) providing a Sales Tax exclusion for Energy Star appliances.
