Senate/House Bills Moving

The following bills of interest saw action this week in the House (the Senate was not in session)-- House Recycling Fee: House Bill 961 (Buxton-D-Dauphin) extending the $2/ton Recycling Fee through 2020 and requiring the transfer of $1.25 million annually through the FY 2012-13 to a new Used Tire Pile Remediation Program was passed by the House and the bill now goes to the Governor for his action. Snowmobiles: House Bill 1171 (Hanna-D-Clinton) relating to snowmobile and ATV registration and use of restricted account was amended and reported from the House Transportation Committee and Tabled. Arbor Day: House Resolution 656 (Marsico-R-Dauphin) recognizing April 30 as Arbor Day was adopted by the House. Drinking Water Week: House Resolution 759 (George-D-Clearflield) recognizing May 2-8 as Drinking Water Week was adopted by the House. Senate EQB Counsel: Senate Bill 85 (Musto-D-Luzerne) providing for an independent counsel for the Environmental Quality Board was passed by the Senate last week and is now in the House for consideration.
