Harrisburg University Hosts Regional Student Conference On Alternative Energy May 8

Harrisburg University of Science and Technology will host the Central Dauphin High School Green Power Club’s Regional Student Conference on Alternative Energy, which is set for 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., May 8.
The first of its kind, the conference will focus on hybrid power systems – wind turbines and solar panels working together as one system – from the point of view of a high school student.
Sponsored by PPL, the goal of the conference is for regional high school students and advisers to gain insights and a deeper understanding of alternative energy production, micro distribution and energy conservation. Attendees will also gain practical engineering experience by for building an alternative energy source using small wind turbines and solar arrays at their high school.
Conference organizers hope that more than 100 students representing 29 high schools from the state attend the event.
