Montgomery County Community Colleges Finishes Brownfields Project

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency celebrated the completion of a brownfields project at Montgomery County Community College where a site contaminated with arsenic and other metals was turned into a parking lot.
EPA awarded $200,000 in federal stimulus funding to cleanup the site along with matching funds provided by the Department of Environmental Protection-- $500,000 and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development-- $37,500 and college funds.
The building next to the parking lot will be transformed into the Riverfront Academic and Heritage Center.  For more information,  visit EPA's Brownfields program webpage.
