Nels Tabor Named Director Of DEP Regional Office In Williamsport

Nels Taber was named this week to succeed Robert Yowell as Director of the Williamsport Regional Office of the Department of Environmental Protection covering 14 northcentral Pennsylvania counties.
"Nels Taber is uniquely qualified to lead the northcentral office, given the many issues it faces in regulating the Marcellus Shale gas exploration industry," said DEP Secretary John Hanger. "He has a strong dedication to protecting the environment and ensuring that all of our laws and regulations are obeyed."
Taber served as regional legal counsel for DEP's Harrisburg Regional Office until 1993 and has been in the Williamsport office since that time.  From 1987 to 1989, he worked as deputy attorney general in the criminal prosecutions section of the Office of Attorney General.
Prior to studying at the University of Notre Dame, where he received in 1981 a bachelor of arts degree in liberal studies.  He received his juris doctor degree from the Dickinson School of Law in 1985.
