*Note: The Senate may return to voting session for one day to consider Senate Bill 441 (Vance-R-Cumberland) creating a state report card on education, making changes to teacher certification and making other changes to school district requirements to help the state meet federal Race To The Top requirements to qualify for $400 million of state aid. Calendars House (June 7): House Bill 80 (Vitali-D-Delaware) expanding the Alternative Energy Portfolio Standards and authorizing a carbon sequestration network. Senate (June 7): Senate Bill 1250 (Pileggi-R-Delaware) requiring the sharing of air pollution fines with local governments. Bills Introduced The following bills of interest were introduced this week-- School Recycling: Senate Bill 1379 (Musto-D-Luzerne) further providing for recycling at educational institutions. Opening Lands for Recreation: Senate Bill 1389 (Argall-R-Schuylkill) further providing for limiting the liability of landowners who open their land and water areas to hunting and recreation adding recreation trails. Stranded Costs: House Resolution 812 (George-D-Clearfield) directing the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee to investigate whether electric utilities over or under collected stranded costs. No Expedited Permits: House Resolution 813 (George-D-Clearfield) directing the Department of Environmental Protection to cease issuing expedited permits for natural gas drilling activities. Hazardous Waste: House Resolution 826 (Goodman-D-Schuylkill) memorializing the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to require uniform enforcement of the RCRA Act on hazardous waste reclamation companies.
