Sustainable Energy Fund Awards Over $150,000 In Scholarship Money For Conference

The Sustainable Energy Fund has awarded over 150,000 in scholarship funds to approximately 100 students to attend its Sustainable Energy Conference held July 12 – 16 at Lehigh University.
This scholarship money is given to enable students, from middle schools up to the collegiate level, to attend the full week of the Conference for free. This provides students with: two days of technical training in either solar photovoltaic, wind or energy efficiency and exposure to over 60 seminars ranging from topics such as LED lighting and Biofuels to Financing Mechanisms.
In return for scholarship funds given to students and educators the SEF asks them to integrate sustainable energy into their home school through curriculum changes, policy adjustments and student enrichment activities.
"In 2010 we estimate that 70 teachers will attend the conference and that 8625 of their students will benefit from new or revised curriculum," said Jennifer Hopkins President of the Sustainable Energy Fund. "We are happy to provide over $150,000 in student scholarships for this event because we are clearly fulfilling our mission statement to reduce educational barriers to a Sustainable Energy Future.
