ClearWater Conservancy Honored By Leadership Centre County

|
On June 2, the graduating class of Leadership Centre County honored ClearWater Conservancy with their 2010 Community Service Award. ClearWater was nominated by class member Rod Fye, who serves as the Enforcement Officer at the Centre County Solid Waste Authority.
Rod has worked with ClearWater for the past two years on the annual Watershed Cleanup Day and has seen first-hand the dedication of ClearWater staff and volunteers to the community and environment.
According to Georgia Abbey, the Executive Director of Leadership Centre County, “I am so glad ClearWater Conservancy was chosen as the recipient of the LCC Community Service Award this year. Their work on behalf of Centre County's environment and quality of life is unprecedented, and I am personally grateful for their hard work.”
Jennifer Shuey, ClearWater Conservancy’s Executive Director and a 2002 graduate of LCC, attended the Leadership Centre County graduation ceremony to accept the award.
As she addressed the crowd of 170 LCC graduates and alumni she thanked “the many Leadership Centre County graduates who are members and sponsors of ClearWater Conservancy. It truly takes all of us working together to conserve and restore our precious natural resources. We are blessed with an abundance of natural treasures here in Centre County, and so many of our leaders understand their importance in shaping this place that we call home and the lives that we lead.”
ClearWater Conservancy thanks Leadership Centre County for honoring our work and offers congratulations to this year’s graduates as they step out boldly, positively, and collaboratively to tackle the many challenges of today and make Centre County even better through their efforts.
LCC Community Service Award
The Leadership Centre County program brings together a mix of existing and emerging leaders with diverse backgrounds and experiences and from all five school districts in the county. These individuals have demonstrated the talent and desire to serve their communities.
Through active participation in a succession of program days, participants become more aware of the dynamics of the social and economic changes of today and the potential impact on our communities.
The LCC experience has an immediate, positive effect on the participants, their organizations, and the community. Each person is better informed and more skilled in active community leadership. The real value of the program is evidenced as graduates become leaders in positions of responsibility in Centre County.
