Friends Of Wissahickon Trail Ambassadors Lead Summer Walks
Photo

The Friends of the Wissahickon in Montgomery County are offering free nature walks in Wissahickon Valley Park this summer led by FOW Trail Ambassadors.
The Trail Ambassador program was launched in 2008 in partnership with Fairmount Park. These volunteers share their knowledge of the Wissahickon with park users after completing an eight-week training course which covers Wissahickon history, watersheds, current park projects, wildlife, geology, plants, park rules and regulations, and first aid/CPR.
Their primary role is to provide information to park visitors about Wissahickon Valley Park and report any problems they see to Fairmount Park Rangers.
Please read the trail hike descriptions online for the length and physical demands of each hike. Unless otherwise noted, hikes use rocky, rugged trails that may be steep and slippery, except for the Lower Forbidden Drive Hike on June 26, which will be easy. Please bring water.
Children over the age of six are welcome if accompanied by a responsible adult on hikes that are designated as suitable for them. Walks are cancelled in the event of heavy rain.
For more information, visit the Friends of the Wissahickon website.
