Family Paddling Day Set For July 17 In Luzerne County

Frances Slocum State Park will be hosting a Family Paddling Program instructed by the Fish & Boat Commission on July 17 from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
This program is also being offered in partnership with Luzerne County's Keystone Active Zone Passport program
The Family Paddling Program is a free six-hour program designed for families new to paddling, including children ages ten and older. The program includes lessons, demonstrations and hands-on practice on kayaking and canoeing. Sessions will be taught in an indoor classroom and out on the water.
Participants will learn about regulations, equipment, safety and paddling skills. Canoes, kayaks, paddles, PFDs and safety equipment will be provided. Participants should bring their own water and lunch. They should be prepared for outdoor weather which may include hot, sunny or wet conditions. Participants should also wear or bring "get-wet" clothing like a bathing suit or quick dry shorts and shirt.
All participants must pre-register. Please call Frances Slocum State Park at 570-696-3525 to register. More information can also be obtained by calling the Commission’s Northeast Outreach and Education Office at 570-477-2206.
