Students To Make Presentation At 2010 Sustainable Energy Conference July 14-16

Students from Central Dauphin High School's Green Power Club will make a presentation at the 2010 Sustainable Energy Conference at Stabler Arena on the Goodman Campus of Lehigh University in Bethlehem July 14-16.
In addition, three students - David Williams, Daniele Williams and Kevin Williams - were provided with scholarships by the Sustainable Energy Fund to attend the Solar Scholars PV Boot Camp, which precedes the conference.
Although the club has a lot of experience in installing various sustainable energy technologies, they are just as interested in teaching other students about Green Energy.
"We are learning a lot about green energy production and its implication in the real world," said Glenn Williams, a student advisor at Central Dauphin High School. "The overall goal though is to help other high school students understand the different aspects of green energy and, hopefully, motivate them to start up a similar program at their own school. Our presentation at the Sustainable Energy Conference will help educate, encourage and empower them to be active in green energy."
Over the past two years this very active club has designed, engineered and constructed a small wind turbine and solar panel hybrid research facility at its school. This research facility is made up of one air breeze small wind turbine, mounted to a twenty foot portable tower, as well as four solar panels.
"We are very excited to provide these students with the opportunity to attend the Solar Scholars Boot Camp," stated Jennifer Hopkins, President Sustainable Energy Fund. "These students will be presenting to more than 120 professional educators who are currently working on implementing sustainable energy education programs in their schools."
