Waste Management Inc. has contributed $50,000 and Joe Krentzman & Son, Inc., a full-serve scrap company in Lewistown has contributed $5,000 to the Capital Campaign of the Wildlife For Everyone Endowment Foundation.
It's WMI's first payment on a pledge of $100,000 to WFEEF's $12 million campaign to build a Wildlife Education and Research Center near the geographical center of the state at State College.
Krentzman Supply Company is a wholesale distributor of industrial, mechanical and plumbing / HVAC supplies, as well as pipe, valves and fittings for industrial, residential, and gas exploration and drilling consumers.
The center will house the wildlife research staff of the Game Commission and facilities to teach about Pennsylvania's diverse wildlife species. It will feature offices, research labs, a library, classrooms, interactive educational laboratories, exhibit space, a theater and a gift shop. In addition, sports competition ranges will be incorporated into the lower level of the building.
"The Wildlife Education and Research Center will stimulate and support all levels of learning about Pennsylvania's birds and mammals," explained Vern Ross, Executive Director of the WFEEF. "It will ensure that Pennsylvania is in the vanguard of wildlife conservation for many generations."
He noted that an endowment fund also will be created to support the center and the foundation in perpetuity.
