As part of a continuing focus on the Lackawaxen River, the northeastern Pennsylvania waterway named Commonwealth River of the Year for 2010 by DCNR, commemorative posters now are being offered.

A mecca for birders hoping to glimpse abundant bald eagles, and trout fishermen drawn to its clean, cold waters, the Lackawaxen River flows nearly 25 miles through Pike and Wayne counties before joining the Delaware River at Lackawaxen, Pike County.
“The Lackawaxen River is simply wonderful to experience in any season,” said Jon Meade, executive director of the Pa. Organization for Watersheds and Rivers “It is well-deserving of this recognition, both for the importance it plays within the communities of the Poconos, as well as the great need for protecting it from degradation."
Printed posters can be obtained by contacting Meade at PA Organization for Watersheds and Rivers, Suite 200, 130 Locust St., Harrisburg or by sending email to:  jmeade@pecpa.org.
