Senate/House Bills Moving

The following bills of interest saw action this week in the House and Senate--

House

Abandoned Mineral Rights:  House Bill 1436 (J.White-D-Allegheny) providing for the re-registration of abandoned mineral rights was reported from the House Rules Committee and referred to the House Appropriations Committee.

Environmental Advisory Councils:  House Bill 1450 (Deasy-D-Allegheny) further providing for environmental advisory councils and establishing the Geologically Hazardous Areas Act was reported from the House Rules Committee and referred to the House Appropriations Committee.

Energy Advocate:  House Bill 1909 (George-D-Clearfield) establishing the Office of Commonwealth Energy Advocate to monitor the activities of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission was reported from the House Rules Committee and was referred to the House Appropriations Committee.

Low-Sulfur/Biofuels Heating Oil:  House Bill 2578 (George-D-Clearfield) requiring heating oil to meet ultra low sulfur standards and biofuel requirements was reported from the House Rules Committee and was referred to the House Appropriations Committee.

Geospatical Council:  House Bill 2300 (Fairchild-R-Union) establishing a state Geospatical Coordinating Council was reported from the House Rules Committee and was referred to the House Appropriations Committee.

Tracking Drilling Wastewater: House Bill 381 (Mundy-D-Luzerne) providing for the tracking of wastewater from gas wells was reported out of the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and referred to the House Appropriations Committee.

Enforcing RCRA: House Resolution 826 (Goodman-D-Schuylkill) memorializing the U.S. EPA to uniformly enforce RCRA on all hazardous waste reclamation companies was reported out of the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and is now on the House Calendar for action.

Pass Frack Responsibility Act: House Resolution 864 (Mundy-D-Luzerne) memorializing Congress to pass the Fracturing Responsibility and Awareness of Chemicals Act was reported out of the House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and is now on the House Calendar for action.

Electricity Purchasing: Senate Bill 168 (Brubaker-R-Lancaster) authorizing boroughs to contract for electric service, House Bill 2619 (Preston-D-Allegheny) further providing for municipal aggregation of electric generation supply were amended and reported out of the House Consumer Affairs Committee and referred to the House Appropriations Committee.
