Natural Gas Utilities, Suppliers, Experts Brief PUC On Winter Availability

The Public Utility Commission held its annual Winter Reliability Assessment Meeting this week where presenters reported that natural gas companies across Pennsylvania are prepared for this winter.
           The presenters discussed the various conditions that may affect supply, price and service reliability of natural gas this winter.
            Terrance J. Fitzpatrick, president and CEO of the Energy Association of Pennsylvania, said their members are well-prepared to accommodate the conditions forecast in their winter season planning design.
            Carlos Thillet, manager of gas supply and transportation of PECO Energy Co., noted that storage of natural gas is projected to reach the second highest level on record.
            Spectra Energy Transmission LLC's Robert G. Riga said that the company is continuing to expand its system incrementally to meet the needs of its shippers.
            Joseph L. Hartz, vice president of supply and operations for UGI Energy Services Inc., said the propane industry is prepared to meet normal winter demands.
            Bill Hall of the Commission's Bureau of Conservation, Economics and Energy Planning, discussed several key points about supply and demand for the natural gas industry.
