Federal Recovery Grants Available for Floodplain Relocation, Debris Removal

The Department of Community and Economic Development announced this week the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development is making available $2.5 million in Community Development Block Grants for disaster recovery activities related to severe storms and hurricanes that hit The deadline for local governments to submit applications is April 4. Grants of from $100,000 to $500,000 will be available to local governments for a variety of purposes including relocating homes and businesses from floodplains, debris removal not previously covered, demolition of structures and other purposes.
