West Penn Energy Fund Releases Documentary on Sustainable Energy

Pennsylvania Energy,” a documentary funded by the West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund and produced by the Penn State Public Broadcasting, is now available on DVD and will be on the web.

The program debuted on WPSX-TV in State College November 21.

“The program explores, in several sections, wind power, solar energy, bioi-mass and energy savings in the homes, including efficient heating and cooling,” said Joe Myers, producer-director. “It also takes a look at economic renew in the Commonwealth and how sustainable energy can be an economic advantage and help create jobs.”

The West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund is a non-profit corporation that invests in the development of sustainable energy technologies in the 23-county West Penn Power market region in Pennsylvania. It is part of an $80 million effort required by the Public Utility Commission to jump-start sustainable energy investments in 2000.

The Energy Fund and Penn State Public Broadcasting will be collaborating on development of an energy curriculum for Pennsylvania’s K-12 schools in the coming year.
