House Environmental Committee Hears About Forest Management Issues

The House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee this week held an informational meeting on the forest products industry and heard a presentation on forest management techniques.
Paul Lyskava, PA Forest Products Association, provided an overview of the industry in Pennsylvania discussing the renewal nature of wood resources and the multiple uses to which forest are managed. He provided a white paper to the Committee on the impact of the recession on the industry.
John Karakash, Resource Professional Group, discussed the use of bio-energy to heat and cool commercial buildings.
Rep. Scott Hutchinson (R-Venango) serves as Majority Chair and Rep. Bud George (D-Clearfield) serves as Minority Chair.
