Midstate Farmer, Landowner Workshops: Discovering Funds And Programs To Help You

Farmers, landowners, and groups who work with landowners are encouraged to join Capital Resource Conservation & Development Area Council a series of free workshops to help participants identify funding, technical resources, and conservation programs within the local region to help them better manage their land.
Workshops in Lebanon, York, and Franklin counties titled, the Agency ABCs; Decoding the Alphabet Soup will provide hands-on information about agencies and organizations that assist producers and landowners with both technical expertise and financial cost-share as well as available educational programs for local communities.
“It’s quite easy to become overwhelmed when you realize you need assistance on your property but don’t know where to turn for help.” said Capital RC&D Coordinator, Susan Parry. “Some valuable programs are underutilized due in part because landowners and citizens aren’t aware that help is out there. So who are these groups and what do they have to offer? This is what we want to address.”
Each workshop features location specific representatives from USDA-Farm Service Agency, USDA-Natural Resource Conservation Service, the county Conservation Districts, Penn State Cooperative Extension, and others that specialize in land preservation and conservation assistance.
The Lebanon county workshop will be held on March 22 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at Lebanon County Penn State Cooperative Extension Office, 2120 Cornwall Road, Lebanon.
In York county the workshop will take place on March 24, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the York County Penn State Cooperative Extension Office, 112 Pleasant Acres Road, York.
The Franklin county workshop will be held on March 28 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Franklin County Penn State Cooperative Extension Office, 181 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg.
The workshops are free but space is limited; please register at least one day in advance.
