PROP Names JoAnna Humprhreys New Education Manager

The Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania this week announced the addition of JoAnna Humphreys as their Education Manager. 
            JoAnna will be responsible for overseeing PROP’s nationally recognized Professional Certification Program. She will also manage current projects and programs, as well as develop new projects designed to broaden PROP’s mission.
            As the proprietor of a Sylvan Learning Center Franchise in Maryland, JoAnna was awarded a Memorandum of Understanding from Chesapeake College in response to a Request for Proposal.  The MOU was an agreement to implement individualized instruction courses to students through a federally-funded program administered by the Workforce Investment Board.
            Prior to joining the team at PROP, JoAnna was an Educational Consultant for the Virginia Department of Education.  JoAnna wrote curriculum, aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning, which was approved by the Virginia DOE in October, 2007.  
            JoAnna has a B.S. from Penn State Harrisburg.  She also has an ASB from Central Penn Business College.  JoAnna proudly graduated from Bellwood-Antis High School, Bellwood, PA; and, her 4 sisters and mother live in the area.  She has 19 nieces and nephews.   
            The PROP Professional Certification Program is accredited by the Pennsylvania State University, Altoona Campus. PROP’s program offers both classroom and online courses for recycling and organics professionals who are seeking further knowledge in their field, while earning continuing education credits. 
            Successful certification course participants can become certified; first as a “Certified Recycling Professional” and then as a “Senior Certified Recycling Professional."  Currently there are 144 CRPs and 25 SCRPs.
