Sewickley Creek Volunteers To Clean Up Part Of Greensburg April 30

April 30 local Comcast employees and their families and friends will volunteer to clean up along Tremont Avenue in Greensburg as part of Comcast Cares Day and in cooperation with the Sewickley Creek Watershed Association.
Beginning at 8:30 a.m., Comcast volunteers will be collecting litter and abandoned tires and household items along Tremont Avenue in partnership with the Sewickley Creek Watershed Association.
“Sewickley Creek Watershed Association is very pleased to be able to join forces with Comcast and Westmoreland Cleanways in the 2011 Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania,” said Larry D. Myers, Treasurer of the Sewickley Creek Watershed Association. “We’re anticipating about 100 volunteers to clean roadway litter and illegal dumps around Greensburg, Youngwood, New Stanton and Pleasant Unity.
“It is unfortunate that good-hearted volunteers have to continuously clean up after thoughtless litterbugs when they could instead be doing something even more constructive for the environment and our communities. Litter and illegal dumping can pollute our streams, make for very unsightly neighborhoods and attract similar unwanted behavior. We appreciate Comcast’s support to make our community a more attractive and safer place to live!”
