Game Commission Announces $2.85 Million Reduction in Services

In the face of a $3 million deficit in the 2004-05 fiscal year budget caused by unanticipated expenses and shortfalls in timber revenues, Pennsylvania Game Commission this week announced cuts and reductions in current operations of $2.85 million.

The agency will continue to review the current budget to realize a total of $3.1 million in savings in the 2004-05 fiscal year budget, as well as launch an effort to identify cuts and reductions of up to $7 million in the 2005-06 fiscal year budget.

The Game Commission's estimated timber revenues for the 2003-04 fiscal year were $12 million, however, revenues came in at $7.3 million.
