Winners Of Chester County High School Recycling Video Contest Announced

The Chester County Board of Commissioners this week announced West Chester East High School students Christina Betz and Jeff Cindric are the winners of the County High School Recycling Video Contest.
The students received the award, a check for $1,000. The students’ 4- minute video entry featured a “green man” and explained what belongs and doesn’t belong in a “Single Stream Recycling Collection”.
West Chester East Video Instructor Alletta Bowers also attended the presentation of the $1000 prize.
“Single stream recycling makes it possible to put all items in one container, making it easier and more convenient for Chester County residents to recycle at the curb,” said Chester County Recycling Coordinator Nancy Fromnick. “This video helps illustrate the benefits of single stream recycling and will be used to promote recycling and educate the public.
The High School Video competition was the second of the three recycling contests undertaken by the County Commissioners through the Chester County Solid Waste Authority.
            More Contests
The first was a metal caps collection for Chester County kindergarten students held earlier in the spring. The third, to be held in the fall, is a middle school video competition that asks students to teach the importance of composting and show how to compost in your own backyard.
For details and entry forms for this middle school competition, that includes a $1,000 prize for the winning video, contact the Chester County Solid Waste Authority at 610-273-3771 ext. 226.  Entries are due November 15.
Prizes for the three contests were provided by the Chester County Solid Waste Authority, Coatesville Scrap, A.J. Blosenski, Southeast Chester County Refuse Authority, The Hankin Group, ING, Johnson Matthey, Longwood Gardens and Waste Management.
