|
Private forest landowners in the Conewago Watershed in Lebanon, Dauphin and Lancaster counties are invited to attend a forestry workshop from 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 28, at the Governor Dick Environmental Center.
The workshop is being offered as part of the partnership collaboration of the Conewago Creek Conservation Initiative, according to a news release. However, any private, nonindustrial forest landowner in the three counties is welcome to attend. There is no charge to attend the workshop.
This workshop will include both indoor and outdoor activities, the release states. The first part of the workshop will include an indoor presentation about state and federal programs and services available to forest landowners in Pennsylvania.
Speakers will include representatives from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources' Bureau of Forestry, Pennsylvania State University Cooperative Extension, U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service and Game Commission.
The second part of the program will be an outdoor site visit of two forestry practices at Governor Dick Park in southern Lebanon County, the release states. The forest practices will include treatment of invasive species and forest stand improvement.
The workshop will be held rain or shine. In the case of inclement weather, descriptions and photos of the forest practices will be provided in an indoor presentation. Those attending are asked to dress appropriately for the outdoor site visit, which will include moderate walking on uneven terrain and surfaces through the woods.
Space is limited. Confirm your attendance by July 22 by sending email to: jak5262@psu.edu. Those who require special accommodations are asked to call Susan Marquart at 717-237-2237 or email Susan.Marquart@pa.usda.gov by July 22.
