DEP Names Susan Malone Southwest Regional Director

Susan Malone has been named Regional Director for the Southwest Office of the Department of Environmental Protection, according to a report in the Post-Gazette Sunday.
           Malone succeeds George Jugovic who was named to the position in November 2009.
            Prior to being named Regional Director, Malone was appointed in 2005, Chief Deputy Attorney General for the Western Pennsylvania Regional Office.  In that capacity, she supervised the torts litigation and civil litigation sections. 
            Ms. Malone received her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh and joined the law offices of Rose, Schmidt, Hasley and Dixon in 1981 where she worked until 2004. She was appointed as a member of Gov. Corbett's Office of General Counsel transition team.
            Regional Directors, like Deputy Secretaries and Bureau Directors within DEP are political appointees.
