EPCAMR Qualifies For Education Improvement Tax Credit Donations
|
The Eastern Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation announced Tuesday its environmental education program now qualifies for the Education Improvement Tax Credit donations.
A business may receive a tax credit equal to 75 percent of its contribution to EPCAMR, up to a maximum of $300,000 per taxable year. The tax credit may be increased to 90 percent of the contribution made, up to a maximum of $300,000, if the business agrees to provide the same amount of contribution to EPCAMR for two consecutive years.
"This is our first year in the program and the additional funding through this tax credit program would allow for EPCAMR to reach many more under-served and underprivileged schools in our region, particularly at a elementary level to introduce them to environmental science, water quality problems and solutions revolving around abandoned mine reclamation, mine drainage, watershed restoration, land reclamation, and community involvement in local projects," said Robert Hughes, EPCAMR Executive Director.
"The funding gap would also allow the EPCAMR Staff to spend less time writing more and more grants to cover the same type of programs from multiple sources of funding over the long term. 80% of the annual receipts from the EITC will be used for programs to public schools for innovative educational programs that we offer."
