Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Greenways Mini-Grant Winners Announced

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Friday announced the award of grants in their new Greenways Mini-Grant Program.  
            Designed to provide community groups with project supplies for outdoor based work events within a Greenway, the program enables the renewal of Pennsylvania’s Greenways in need into something beautiful.
            Support for this program is provided by the Community Conservation Partnership Program, Environmental Stewardship Fund, under the administration of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Bureau of Recreation and Conservation.
            From now until December 15, the grant winners will transform their Greenways utilizing $500 in project supplies with 100 percent match.
            The grant winners are as follows:
-- Berks County – Conrad Weiser Middle School for the “Scout it Out” program in the Tulpehocken Region;
-- Bucks County – Greenbelt Overhaul Alliance of Levittown for the cleanup along Neshaminy Creek;
-- Bucks County – Newtown Township for landscaping the Clark Nature Center;
-- Columbia County – Columbia County Conservation District for litter and invasive species education in the Susquehanna Greenway;
-- Erie County – Headwaters Park NRC Trust for park signage in Headwaters Park;
-- Erie County – Headwaters Park NRC Trust for park trash and recycling receptacles in Headwaters Park;
-- Lehigh County – Friends of Allentown Parks for the Lehigh Canal Park Cleanup on National Public Lands Day in the Lehigh River Greenway;
-- Luzerne County – Anthracite Scenic Trails Association for trail repair and planting on the Back Mountain Trail;
-- Monroe County – Jackson Township for a cleanup and signage in Jackson Township Greenways;
-- Monroe County – West End Park & Open Space Commission for a rain garden in West End Regional Park;
-- Northampton County – Board of Supervisors and Hanover Township for park recycling containers in Hanover Township Parks;
-- Philadelphia County – Keep Philadelphia Beautiful in partnership with Keep Royal Gardens Beautiful for the International Coastal Cleanup in Morris Park, Rose Recreation Center, and Golf Course in the Cobbs Creek/Darby Watershed;
-- Philadelphia County – Motivation High School for improvement and identification of a bike route section of the Eastwick Greenway;
-- York County - York County Parks Foundation Charitable Trust for the Heritage Rail Trail Shade planting project in the Northern Extension of the Heritage Rail Trail County Park; and
-- York County – York County Rail Trail Authority for native landscaping of an earthen berm along the Hanover Trolley Trail.
