Spring Creek Watershed Hosts John Dawes In October 18 Presentation

The Spring Creek Watershed Association in Centre County will sponsor a presentation by R. John Dawes, Executive Director of the Foundation for Pennsylvania Watersheds on October 18 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at the Spring Creek Education Building at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center, 548 Puddingtown Road, College Township.
John will share his observations of how watershed initiatives are making a difference for Pennsylvania communities.
Kristen Saacke Blunk, chair of the Spring Creek Watershed Association, commented that the Spring Creek Watershed Association is celebrating 15 years of watershed protection and education in 2011. According to Saacke Blunk, “John Dawes is uniquely qualified to review past watershed successes and look forward to new challenges and opportunities.”
With a strong focus on energizing and catalyzing projects to restore water quality and ecosystems across Pennsylvania’s acid-mine drainage devastated areas, John Dawes is a leading voice for building watershed organizations that make a difference in their communities.
John took the message of what is possible to the World Water Forum held in Stockholm, Sweden in August of 2011. He returns with a continued conviction that watershed approaches are the most effective measures communities can take to protect, restore, and improve water quality, economies, and overall quality of life.
