PA Townships Call Corbett Drilling Fee Proposal Bookkeeping Nightmare
|
David Sanko, Executive Director of the PA State Association of Township Supervisors, Friday called Gov. Corbett's county-imposed drilling fee a "bookkeeping nightmare," according to an article in the Central Penn Business Journal.
The Association, he said, does support other elements of the proposal, including the 75 percent allocation of revenue to local governments and 25 percent to the state, but noted a standardized statewide fee would be simpler to administer and fairer overall.
Sanko, who served on the Governor's Marcellus Shale Advisory Commission, said during those discussions, Commission members assumed any fee would be statewide and they never considered a county-by-county approach.
Sanko made his remarks as part of the Mid Atlantic BX Marcellus Shale Economic Development Summit.
Sanko also served as Chief-of-Staff for Gov. Mark Schweiker and was the Director of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency.
