Senate/House Bills Moving

The following bills of interest saw action this week in the House and Senate--

House

Drilling Fee/Environmental Protection: House Bill 1950 (Ellis-R-Butler) establishing a county-imposed drilling fee, adopting the Governor's drilling environmental protection proposals and authorizing additional transfers from the Oil and Gas Fund was reported out of the House Finance Committee with a party-line vote and is now on the House Calendar for action.

Senate

Flood Recovery: Senate Bill 1264 (Baker-R-Luzerne) enacting the Flood Relief Act for September 2011 making an appropriation of $20 million for individual assistance was amended and reported from the Senate Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee and was referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
-- Senate Bill 1322 (Yaw-R-Bradford) establishing the Agriculture Disaster Recovery Program to provide disaster assistance to agricultural operations was amended and reported from the Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee and then referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
-- Senate Bill 1297 (Baker-R-Luzerne) establishing the Small Business Flood Relief Program of 2011 was amended and reported from the Senate Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee and was then referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
-- Senate Bill 1267 (Blake-D-Lackawanna) authorizing real estate tax abatement as a result of Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee was amended and reported from the Senate Finance Committee and referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee.

LIHEAP Study: Senate Resolution 165 (Fontana-D-Allegheny) directing the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to study the efficiency of the Low Income Energy Assistance Program was adopted by the Senate.

Water Trails: Senate Resolution 143 (Pippy-R-Allegheny) directing the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to conduct an economic impact study of water trails in the Commonwealth was adopted by the Senate.
