Football Fans + Recycling = A Winning Season For Everyone!

It's no secret that fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles love their teams! But did you know they are just as crazy about recycling?
According to Mario Cimino, Regional Director, PA Resources Council East, "tailgating events at Eagles games are essentially temporary neighborhoods and regular attendees take their responsibility for maintaining this community very seriously."
Click here to witness the energy and enthusiasm of Eagles fans as they talk about tailgate recycling in a recent NBC-10 news feature.
This month marks the one-year anniversary of the extremely successful "Let's Tackle Recycling" effort in Pittsburgh. "Since the introduction of tailgate recycling late last season, we've been impressed by the positive response of tailgaters in Heinz Field lots," said Dave Mazza, Regional Director, PRC West.
Since the 2011 football season kicked off in September, tailgating fans in both cities have recycled a whopping 50,000+ pounds of aluminum cans, glass containers, paper and plastic bottles and cups!
Both campaigns, 'Let's Tackle Recycling' in Pittsburgh and "Recycle A Lot" in Philadelphia, are made possible through generous funding from Alcoa Foundation.
