PRC: Household Chemical, Pharmaceutical Collection Events A Success

The 2011 Household Chemical and Pharmaceutical Collections season is over for the year, and it was the most ambitious and successful ever for the PA Resources Council and its partners.
PRC not only held seven household chemical collections in six western Pennsylvania counties, they also partnered with the DEA's western Pennsylvania region to help market their spring and fall National Drug Take Back Day program. And, as part of the program, PRC and sponsors staffed five sites in the Pittsburgh area!
Season highlights: over 280,000 pounds of household chemicals were collected from nearly 3,500 households and more than 1,200 pounds of pharmaceuticals were collected from nearly 450 households.
Since 2003, PRC and partners have: sponsored 54 collection events; enabled over 28,000 residents to safely and responsibly dispose of more than 2.4 million pounds of chemicals and pharmaceuticals!
