FEMA Deadline For Flood Aid Less Than One Week Away

Sen. John Yudichak (D-Luzerne), Minority Chair of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, reminded area flood victims Thursday the application deadline for aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency is less than one week away.
The deadline is December 14th to apply for help with losses caused by Hurricane Irene or Tropical Storm Lee.
Flood victims can register or check the status of an application already filed, by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). Operators are on duty seven days a week from 7 am to 10 pm. People can also register online.
"This is an important deadline for anyone who hasn't yet applied for federal assistance. There are also several other state and federal programs available with deadlines later this month. Anyone affected by the floods really needs to take the time to look at these programs to see what aid might help them rebuild and recover from the flood," said Sen. Yudichak.
How to still apply for other available programs:
-- U.S. Small Business Administration: Call the SBA Customer Service Center at 1-800-659-2955 or apply online. Deadline: December 14;
-- Keystone Home Energy Loan Program: Call the Keystone HELP Flood Line at 877-282-9448 or apply online. Deadline: December 14;
-- Department of Environmental Protection Storm Relief Grants: Applications are available online or call 717-772-8909 for more information. Deadline: December 31.
