Environmental Regulations And Farms Workshop In Lancaster April 3

On April 3 the Penn State Agricultural Law Resource and Reference Center, the Lancaster County Conservation District, and the Center for Dairy Excellence are sponsoring an educational program on the Environmental Regulation of Agricultural Operations in Lancaster County at the Lancaster County Farm and Home Center from 10:00 to 1:00. 
            The program will begin with a presentation by Ross Pifer, Director of the Agricultural Law Center, addressing the legal framework for regulation in the Chesapeake Bay Basin.
            Steven Taglang from the Department of Environmental Protection will then provide an overview of the regulatory requirements in Pennsylvania, and personnel from the Lancaster County Conservation District will discuss the impact of regulatory requirements on local producers with a specific focus on the recently promulgated Manure Management Manual. 
            All producers and agricultural professionals are invited to attend this program free of charge.  A complimentary lunch, from Hess Catering, also will be provided to all participants.  Nutrient management certification program continuing educations credits are available for participants.
