Loyalsock Creek Community Greenway Cleanup Event April 28
|
Join us as we continue the spring flood relief cleanup events on the floodplain of Loyalsock Creek, Lycoming County on April 28. The first event was held on March 24 and the cleanup event focused on four sites. In 3 hours, over 420 participants removed 62.78 tons of man-made debris and over 140 tires were collected and sent to a recycling facility!
The April 28 cleanup event is seeking caring community members who are willing to assist with the cleanup effort either manually, operate their heavy machinery to disassemble the debris laden log jams, or drive their pickup truck as debris transport vehicles.
Less physically demanding, yet equally important assistance opportunities include baking cookies that will be served at the end of the cleanup during the luncheon, assemble, deliver or serve the lunch, or attend the cleanup to photograph the participants in action.
All pre-registered participants will be provided a meeting site location, a pair of work gloves, an orange safety vest, garbage bags and a well deserved lunch and refreshments at the end of the cleanup event.
The rain or shine event will begin at 9:15 a.m. and well conclude at 12:30 p.m. Participant registration for this event will be taken until April 25, 12 p.m.
Funding these events is granted from the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania, Lycoming County Disaster Relief Fund. The grant supports community driven cleanup efforts that remove man-made debris in Lycoming County as a result from the September 2011 Tropical Storm Lee.
