Appliance Recycling Program Opens In West Penn Power Territory

Customers of West Penn Power, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. can receive a $50 cash rebate – and save up to $150 each year in energy costs – when they recycle their old refrigerators, freezers and room air conditioners through the company's Appliance Recycling Program
Appliance recycling is one of several energy efficiency programs designed to achieve the goals of Pennsylvania's Act 129 of 2008.  By removing secondary refrigerators and freezers, which are often older and far less efficient than new Energy Star qualified appliances, customers can save energy and money.
To participate, customers should call 877-270-3521 to schedule a pick-up of their old refrigerator, freezer or room air conditioner.  JACO Environmental, the contractor administering this program, will pick up and recycle the appliances.
Customers are limited to recycling two refrigerators, freezers and room air conditioners through this program per year.
For more information about other energy efficiency programs available to customers of West Penn Power and other FirstEnergy Pennsylvania utilities, please visit the EnergySavePA website.
