Senate/House Bills Moving

The following bills of interest saw action this week in the House and Senate--

House

Flooding: House Bill 2199 (Stephens'-R-Montgomery) to fine motorists who ignore temporary police barricades and drive through flooded areas during and after storms was reported out of the House Appropriations Committee and passed by the House.   A summary and House Fiscal Note are available.  The bill now goes to the Senate for consideration.

National Forests: House Bill 1904 (Rapp-R-Forrest) limiting the condemnation of land for the Allegheny National Forest was removed from the Table and is now on the House Calendar for action.

No Coal Mine Fatalities: House Resolution 721 (Pyle-R-Armstrong) recognizing 2011 as a year in which there were no coal mining fatalities was adopted by the House.

Lyme Disease: House Resolution 720 (Hess-R-Bedford) designating May as Lyme Disease Awareness Month was adopted by the House.

Senate

General Fund Budget: Senate Bill 1466 (Corman-R-Centre) General Fund budget appropriations was amended and reported from the Senate Appropriations Committee and was passed by the Senate by a vote of 39 to 8.  A summary and Senate Fiscal Note are available.  The bill now goes to the House for consideration.

Storage Tanks: Senate Bill 1398 (Yudichak-D-Luzerne) providing for an extension of the Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Program was amended and reported from the Senate Appropriations Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.  A summary and Senate Fiscal Note are available.  The bill now goes to the House for consideration.

Capital Budget: Senate Bill 1480 (Corman-R-Centre) providing for the 2012-13 Capital Budget was reported out of the Senate Appropriations Committee and is now on the Senate Calendar for action.  A summary and Senate Fiscal Note are available.

Billboards: Senate Bill 477 (Browne-R-Lehigh) providing for compelled removal of noncomplying billboards was Tabled.

Flood Damage: House Bill 1913 (Culver-R-Northumberland) authorizing counties and school district to provide property tax abatement for properties damaged in September's flooding was reported from the Senate Finance Committee and is on the Senate Calendar for action.  This is part of the House Republican flood relief package and identical to Senate Bill 1267 passed as part of the Senate flood relief package.
