American Chestnut Foundation Hosts Fundraiser August 18 In Lancaster County

The Lower Susquehanna Restoration Branch of the American Chestnut Foundation will hold a celebration and fundraiser at the Drumore Estate on August 18 from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m. in Pequea, Lancaster County.

The event will feature a social hour with food and drinks, picnic style dinner; educational sessions on wine tasting, woodworking with chestnut, and chestnut ecology and restoration; and Chestnut cuisine includes Turkey Hill chestnut ice cream.

Individual tickets are $60.00, which includes a TACF membership.   Additional Family Members and Students: $20 (no membership)

There will also be door prizes, silent auctions and raffle.

Sponsorships Available

Sponsor levels begin at $350 for two meals, membership and an opportunity for gift “restoration seeds.”  Ask about higher sponsor levels that earn additional seeds and Local Donor levels that support the Lower Susquehanna chestnut breeding efforts in Lancaster and York Counties.

The members and volunteers of The Lower Susquehanna American Chestnut Restoration Branch have planted and maintained over eight thousand chestnut trees in several research and breeding orchards in York and Lancaster Counties.

Members plant, water, weed and care for the next generations of blight resistant American chestnuts that will be used for future restoration projects; give educational presentations for schools, IU 13, social and gardening clubs and conservation organizations; and also partner with local industries and other non-profits to help accomplish their goals.
