Western PA Audubon Announces Education and Conservation Award Winners

The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania this week presented six environmental education and conservation awards to local individuals and organizations who exemplify the environmental education and conservation mission of Audubon--
Trustee Award winner: St. Vincent’s Environmental Education Center, presented to an organization in recognition of outstanding effort to further the cause of conservation in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. W. E. Clyde Todd Award winner: Charles Bier, Director, Natural Heritage Program, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, presented to an individual in recognition of outstanding effort to further the cause of conservation in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Betty Abbott Excellence in Teaching winner: William T. “Bill” Diehl from Shady Side Academy, presented to a classroom teacher whose commitment to environmental education inspires students to become responsible stewards of the environment. Honorary Life Membership to Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania: Dr. Kenneth Parkes Beulah Frey $1,000 Academic Scholarship award winners: Melinda Angeles, Shaler High School and Lauren Heidingsfelder, Woodland Hills High School, awarded each spring to graduating high school seniors enabling them to further their studies in an environmentally related field.
