The Pennsylvania Parks & Forests Foundation is encouraging outdoor enthusiasts to take their camera with them this summer. The contest, called “2012 Take Five in the Outdoors” for the five categories an entrant can submit photos, runs until September 3.

The categories are: Appreciation of Beauty, Kids in the Outdoors, Outdoor Recreation, Volunteers in Action, and Dogs in the Outdoors.

First place prizes include a carton of 24 Hershey’s Take Five candy bars and a $25 state park gift card—the winner of the Dogs in the Outdoors photo receives the candy bars and a RuffWear dog bed.

Two overall winners, one “Best in Show” selected by voters on PPFF’s Facebook page and another by a blue-ribbon panel, receive a $50 state park gift card.
