DEP Secretary To Address Great Lakes Wind Collaborative

Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Mike Krancer will discuss wind energy opportunities as the keynote speaker on September 25, at the fifth annual meeting of the Great Lakes Wind Collaborative at the Sheraton Bayfront in Erie.

The Great Lakes Wind Collaborative is the leading source of information on wind power in the bi-national Great Lakes region. It brings together representatives from federal government agencies in the United States and Canada; state/provincial and local governments; the wind industry; electric utilities; non-profit organizations; members of academia; and other interested stakeholders to discuss the sustainable development of wind energy in the region.

This year’s program includes sessions about the connection between wind, wildlife, birds and fisheries; public education and outreach; and a special session on the wind economy and supply chain, among others.

In addition to Secretary Krancer, Eric Thumma of Iberdrola Renewables, Ed DeMeo of Renewable Energy Consulting Services and Christy Omohundro of the American Wind Energy Assoc. are featured speakers.
