SRBC Feb. 14 Hearing On Headwater Regulations, Water Withdrawal Applications

The Susquehanna River Basin Commission has scheduled two public hearings on February 14 to accept comments. The first hearing is on 22 water withdrawal and consumptive use project applications and the other is on proposed rulemaking regarding how SRBC will regulate water withdrawals from smaller watersheds (known as headwater areas) and handle emergency certificates. Both hearings will be held at the Pennsylvania State Capitol, Room 8E-B, East Wing, Commonwealth Avenue, Harrisburg, Pa. The times are as follows: Project Applications: 1:00 – 2:45 p.m, or when public testimonies end, whichever comes first; and Proposed Rulemaking: 3:00 p.m.

The list of 22 project applications and 4 rescissions, the proposed rulemaking , and options for submitting comments electronically are all available on SRBC’s Public Participation Center.   

Persons planning to present oral testimony at one or both of the public hearing are encouraged to notify SRBC prior to the hearings of their intent to testify and to indicate which projects they plan to comment on, if it involves project applications.

SRBC will also accept written comments on the project applications and proposed rulemaking until February 25, 2013. Comments may be submitted via the internet through the Public Participation Center or mailed or faxed to Mr. Cairo.

SRBC is scheduled to vote on these and other action items at its next business meeting on March 21, 2013 in Harrisburg, Pa.
