As required by the Act 13 drilling law, the Public Utility Commission published a notice in the February 9 PA Bulletin setting the number of wells and the price of natural gas for purposes of calculating the drilling fees due for calendar year 2012.

There will be 6,277 natural gas wells subject to the drilling fees in 2012, up from the 4,333 wells that paid the fees for calendar year 2011, as reported in the PUC’s annual report on drilling fees in December.

The actual fees paid by producers is set in Act 13.
