Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful invites entries to their inaugural Great American Cleanup of PA Video Contest.   The deadline for entries is May 24.  Beginning June 1, the top entries will be posted on the Keep PA Beautiful Facebook page where visitors can vote for their favorites.

Over 4,000 events are held each year with this event across the state that is held between March 1st and May 31st.  Sponsors for the video contest are Keep PA Beautiful, Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association, and the Department of Environmental Protection.

“We are very excited to add the video contest to this year’s Great American Cleanup of PA,” says Shannon Reiter, President of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.  “Every year we get great photos from events of the wonderful work being accomplished and this will be another venue for groups to showcase what they are doing to make our communities clean and beautiful.”

To participate, send Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful a 3-5 minute video of your Great American Cleanup of PA event showing individuals, groups, children, and adults having fun making your communities clean and beautiful! “Include music, be creative, and have fun,” adds Ms. Reiter.

Events can include, but are not limited to: community cleanups, plantings and beautification efforts, community recycling efforts, community education, or other ways to make your community clean, beautiful, and vibrant.

Visit the Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Facebook page beginning June 1st  to vote for your favorite entry. The top 5 - 10 videos will be posted on Facebook for voting. Voting will conclude on June 14th. Winners will be announced the week of June 17th.

The winning entry will receive a $300 cash prize. Two runners up will each receive a $150 cash prize. The winning entries will also be featured on YouTube. Cash prizes are sponsored by the Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association.

All videos and images submitted become the property of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful and may be published. By submission of your video, you are acknowledging permission from all participants. You must be 18 years or older to submit a video. Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful reserves the right to screen all entries for inclusion. CD’s will not be returned.

Electronic submissions will be accepted by emailing to: slarson@keeppabeautiful.org. Entry form information is required in the email. If submitting your video by CD, send your CD and completed entry form to: Stephanie Larson, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, 105 West 4th Street, Greensburg, PA 15601.

This annual event is held in conjunction with the Great American Cleanup of Keep America Beautiful and in partnership with support from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, PennDOT, and Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association.  Additional partnering businesses include the American Chemistry Council, Greenstar Recycling, Pennsylvania Beverage Association, Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association, Republic Services, and Steel Recycling Institute.
