CBF, Community Action Partner On April 27 Harrisburg Tree Planting
|
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation has partnered with the Community Action Commission to plant 20 street trees along Derry Street in Harrisburg on April 27 starting at 1:00. Street trees are great at reducing water pollution coming off sidewalks and roads, also called stormwater, the largest growing source of pollution to the Chesapeake Bay. Street trees also provide community benefits like increasing property values and community pride, and decreasing heating and cooling costs for nearby residents. These shared environmental and community benefits make street trees an effective way to improve the health of our state capital and water. Volunteers will be tasked to dig holes with shovels, maneuver 1.5 inch caliper trees, and cover up the holes with soil and mulch. Please wear hard sole shoes and be prepared to work! If you’re interested in volunteering or have any questions, contact Andrew Bliss by sending email to: abliss@cbf.org. |
