Raystown-PA Chapter American Chestnut Foundation Restoration Event May 4

The Raystown Restoration Branch of the PA Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation will host a special fundraising event on May 4 at the C. Barton McCann School of Art in Petersburg, PA starting at 5:00 p.m.

As a local Huntingdon County branch, the Branch encourages community and youth involvement in the restoration of the American Chestnut tree.

Proceeds from the event will be used to educate the community on American chestnut restoration, pay for educational material for schools and assist in providing seed and supplies for the active breeding chestnut orchards.

Members also assist the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Juniata College with planting and maintenance of breeding and demonstration orchards of American chestnut. These volunteers help plant, water, weed and care for some of the most advanced blight resistant material that will be used for future restoration projects.
