Keep PA Beautiful Awards Cash Prizes To Litter Free School Zone Winners

Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful rewarded six schools participating in the Litter Free School Zone program with $1,500 dollars in cash prizes.

The awards were sponsored by the Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association, Keep America Beautiful, and The UPS Foundation.

Cambria Heights Elementary in Cambria County, J.E. Fritz Elementary in Lancaster County, The Swain School in Lehigh County, Williamson Junior Senior High School in Tioga County, and James R. Lowell Elementary and Martha Washington Elementary in Philadelphia were each awarded $250.00 to be used at their discretion.

The Litter Free School Zone program is designed to encourage students to keep their school grounds litter-free and to raise public awareness regarding litter via a Litter Free School Zone sign to be displayed outside the school.

Students, clubs, classes, and even entire school districts can participate in the Litter Free School Zone program.  Keeping their school litter-free is an easy and fun way for students to work together, learning valuable community leadership and responsibility skills while gaining a respect for the environment and world around them.  The ultimate goal is a cleaner, more beautiful community, with a strong sense of civic pride.

All participating Litter Free School Zone schools in good standing were eligible. Winning schools were randomly selected.
