House Environmental Committee To Consider Anti-Degradation, Stormwater Bills

The House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee is scheduled to meet on May 15 to consider bills changing the anti-degradation requirements for evaluating onlot septic system permits, a bill authorizing funding for stormwater management and nonpoint source projects and a resolution on a federal forest products issue.

The bills include--

--  House Bill 1325 (Maloney-R-Berks) amending Act 537 to provide that onlot septic systems approved by DEP meet anti-degradation requirements, reversing an Environmental Hearing Board decision-- summary (Click Here for more background on this issue);

--  House Resolution 223 (Tallman-R-Adams) memorializing Congress to support H.R. 979 in Congress, the Forest Products Fairness Act-- summary; and

--  Senate Bill 196 (D.White-R- Indiana) authorizing PennVEST to fund stormwater and nonpoint source management facilities.

The meeting will be held in Room 39 East Wing Capitol Building starting at 9:00.

Rep. Ron Miller (R-York) serves as Majority Chair of the Committee and Rep. Greg Vitali (D-Delaware) serves as Minority Chair.
