Join REI, Friends Of The Wissahickon For National Trails Day June 1

On June 1 the Friends of the Wissahickon in Montgomery County will once again join in a nationwide effort to raise awareness of and care for the trails in Wissahickon Valley Park with the help of REI Conshohocken.

This year marks the 21th anniversary of National Trails Day, sponsored every year on the first Saturday in June by the American Hiking Society.

For over ten years, REI Conshohocken has joined FOW on its monthly workdays in the Wissahickon, where they have helped with projects such as clearing trails and removing invasive plants.

This year, on National Trails Day, they will be performing invasive plant removal and trail maintenance at Kitchen's Lane.

Trail work begins at 9:30 a.m. and continues until 12:30 p.m. Meet at the parking lot at Kitchen's Lane, down Wissahickon Avenue in Mt. Airy.

Register with FOW Volunteer Coordinator Eric Falk at falk@fow.org or 215-247-0417 x107.

Check the Friends of the Wissahickon calendar of events webpage for upcoming Trail Ambassador walks and other special events.
