Spring Creek Festival, 5K Coming Up June 1 In Centre County

The ClearWater Conservancy will hold its annual celebration of Spring Creek June 1 at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center in Centre County.

The free, community event starts in the morning with a 5K run and continues through early afternoon with a host of educational events, conservation displays, programs, food and music for all ages.

The Tavern Restaurant of State College is the presenting sponsor of the festival again this year. The festival is rain or shine event.

About 30 Central Pennsylvania agencies, non-profits and outdoors organizations and businesses will join ClearWater as exhibitors and sponsors.

Activities for children typically include a Fun Run, wildlife displays, a sing-along, a scavenger hunt, arts and crafts, an aquatic bug hunt, giant bunnies, ambulance tours, rocks and minerals and a Rubber Duck Race.

Adults will enjoy live music and presentations from area conservation and outdoor groups including fly casting and tying lessons by the Spring Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited, guided tours of the marsh and much, much more.

Music Schedule: 10 a.m. Unusual Suspects, 11:30 a.m. Pure Cane Sugar, 1 p.m. Andy Tolins.

In addition, the George Harvey Spring Creek Heritage Award, given jointly each year by ClearWater and the Spring Creek Chapter of Trout Unlimited, will be awarded during the festival. The award honors an individual who has worked to improve or protect Spring Creek.

Additional sponsors include Little Earth by Room Doctor; Kotary, Detar and Associates; Centre Region Parks and Recreation; Freeze Thaw Cycles and Rapid Transit Sports.
